Apparently, it is a day that was started by the writing implementmanufacturers in 1977 to celebrate the art of handwriting (and get youto buy more stuff). They picked January 23 because it is JohnHancock's birthday.The suggested way to celebrate? Write a note or letter to someone today using a pen or pencil :)

I think that is an awesome idea, Handwriting Day. The art of the written word is becoming a thing of the past. No one ever writes anyomre. it is all emails and blog entries.
